My grade is lower than what I desire.  What can be done?

1.     Attend class.  Missing class means missed concepts.  That’s just the way it is. Read the section.  Go over the examples in the book and in the PowerPoint.  Watch the video if there is one (AP Calculus has videos for every section).  Ask a friend (that understands) for help.  Come see me during Period 0.  I will not, however, reteach the entire section.  On an average day, I have between 10-20%  of my students absent.  Reteaching is not an option.

2.     Do the assignments.  Some assignments are worth completion points, some are not.  The assignments are vital, however, for being prepared for the short (5-10 minute) homework quizzes that are given the day the assignment is due.

3.     Avoid missing work.  Zeros will bring the grade down.

4.     Avoid late work.  Deductions for late points will bring the grade down.  Assignments over a week late will receive no points.

5.     Ask questions during the lesson.  Someone else probably has the same question and would appreciate your asking it.

6.     Come in before school, after school, or during period 0 and work on your assignment then.  That way I am there if you have a problem.  I won’t probably be able to give one-on-one help if a lot of learners are there, but you can ask an occasional question.

7.     Focus, Focus, Focus!!!  Use your class time wisely.  Don’t worry about what you might be missing on your phone (you are not supposed to have it out or on - better yet don't bring it to class).  If other sites on the computer distract you, turn it off.  Don’t try to do other work while the lesson is going on.
